Our family loves to go hiking together along the many available trails in our area. It’s not only a chance for us to get out together and be outside with our attention focused on something other than our phones or work, but it’s also a chance for me personally to take photos. There is nothing that I love more than to go exploring with my family and photograph what is before me.

I had heard that a brand new set of trails opened up this summer in Castle Rock, Colorado. I knew that it somehow connected to our favorite area of Castlewood Canyon so I was very interested in checking out how Lost Canyon Ranch looked. It does not disappoint! We decided to start with the Willow Creek Path that then lead us to the bottom portion of the Bootlegger’s Loop Trail. Willow Creek Path is a very nice, wide and easy trail that is only a half mile long and gets you to other trails. Bootlegger’s Loop is a little more strenuous as it is in the forest on a hillside with a narrow path, we really liked this trail and would absolutely do it again but do the entire loop next time.

Below are just a few images that I took during our first visit to Lost Canyon Ranch. It is a beautiful area and the forest is so thick. Even with our drought this year the grasses and trees seem to be surviving.

We will definitely be headed back to try more trails!
