Notes From April

Fine Art and Landscape prints made with the Canon Pro-200S by Brenda Landrum

Back to making prints this month! I had an order come in for 2 13×19 landscapes to be framed so printed those and then made 4×6 prints of my recent work. I went looking for frames today and was a little surprised by the cost of 18×24 frames at big box stores but ended up finding something that my customer likes for the frosty tree image. I still need to source a frame for the sunset image. It feels really good to be printing again!

Frost covered trees near the Poudre River in Fort Collins, Colorado taken by photographer Brenda Landrum

I’m still going through my extensive archive of images on our NAS system. Earlier this year we decided to upgrade our old NAS so I’ve been moving thousands of files for a couple of months. I get distracted! I find myself looking through all the files and rediscovering images I had forgotten or even better, finding images I never edited or shared. Like the image above. In February 2019, we woke to a frosty landscape and I grabbed my camera gear before heading out the door to take my daughter to school. After I dropped her off I went to a favorite pond location near the Poudre River and photographed the trees covered in frost. I had two favorite images and the edits were in color, the icy blue and crisp white frost is what got my attention. But this week I found myself editing images I never touched in black and white and I love them.

2025 August Garden

I’m anticipating getting back into the garden again! The image above is how my garden looked last August. I have been working on this space for 6 years now and I love it more every year. I also photograph it every month of the growing season which has provided a beautiful timeline of how this space has changed. If you are interested, feel free to browse the gardening category . Any other gardeners out there?

Print Shop display of landscapes and floral photography by photographer Brenda Landrum

My goal for May is to get my Print Shop updated. I did not do a good job of this last year so I want to focus on it next month. I need to get new images put in there and clean it up a bit. It has been a dream of mine to have a successful (in my eyes) print shop. It hasn’t ever developed into what I hoped for and some times I think I should give up, why I didn’t do much last year. Yet … I’m not ready to let go of this dream. I try to but I always find myself drawn to it so I will continue to pursue it and maybe one day the dream will be realized.

Thanks for reading today, I appreciate your time and interest into my photography.
