Flowers are beautiful in all stages of their life. From the little bud to being in full open bloom and then in its final stage when it starts to dry and the petals fall. There is beauty to be discovered, you just have to be open to seeing it.
Artists, creatives, and makers experience a rollercoaster ride of emotions. We get excited when we are creating something that brings us immense joy like when I was photographing this tulip bloom. There’s excitement when we can’t wait to share what was created. But then there’s questioning if anyone will like it or if it’s even very good. A rush of happiness surges when someone says, I want to buy that! A feeling of disappointment when nobody wants to buy it. And then we do it all over again on the next thing we make.

Just like the stages of a flower, there is beauty to be discovered in the stages of a creative. It’s ok to feel unsure. It’s ok to take risks. It’s ok to have disappointment. If we felt the highs of excitement from people liking and buying all the time I believe that wouldn’t stretch the creative to try new things and instead keep them within a safe box. It’s when things are hard that we seek to find new ways and try new things. Never know what might be discovered along the way.
Enjoy the highs but also embrace the lows and find beauty there to move your creative energy forward.
