Pincushion Flower

March 14, 2021

This gorgeous Pincushion bloom, or Scabiosa flower, was part of a beautiful arrangement my mom put together for my Grandmother’s birthday. I loved how much it really does look like there are stick pins stuck into the petals plus the gorgeous deep purple color was making me excited so I plucked a bloom out of the arrangement and started photographing it in my mom’s sunroom. Sunroom = light!

When I photograph a flower it’s because I’m in awe of how beautiful it is. It’s created perfectly with a balance of beauty, form, and function that is all for us to enjoy. I study that beauty as I photograph it up close and then further away. Turning it from front to back to study all sides. That is what excites me to share it with others. I want others to enjoy in that beauty that is from my perspective. So I hope you enjoy this bloom today and how it is created perfectly.
