Country Garden Rose

February 10, 2021

I love this rose. My favorite floral shop in Fort Collins had this rose on their Instagram to which I promptly sent them a message asking if they had a couple of stems that I could get from them. These were for Valentine’s bouquets so I couldn’t just have my pick but they found me a couple that I could take. These roses are unbelievably gorgeous! The thick petal ruffles are what drew me in. It’s layers upon layers of petals. Then the soft yellow and green almost spiky center bring in another texture and tone. Can you tell that I love flowers? It’s not just the overall beauty but it’s how it’s made and the form. How it comes all together to create a lovely harmony of visuals and scent for us to enjoy.

Flowers can make us feel emotions and I love that. For me a beautifully simple photograph can give me a sense of calm and rest. Receiving flowers makes me feel happy and loved. Smelling flowers gives me joy and can bring up memories. Giving flowers can brighten someone’s day. These emotions that flowers give is one reason why I love photographing them so much. They inspire me greatly and that brings me so much joy but then to share that joy I feel with others is even more amazing.

It is hard to pick one. For a card maybe the second one 🤔

If you are talking about the second image that is a tight close up of half of the flower, that’s a favorite of mine also. In fact, I made a card of that one and really like it!
