It all started when I decided to only share flower images on social media for the entire month of February. Every single day (all 28 days) I posted a flower from my portfolio. The exercise in having a theme for the month was very enjoyable. I found it calming to know what I was going to post and I enjoyed the process of browsing my entire floral portfolio to create groups of images by color. When the month was over I was going to go back to my normal routine, a flower and then a landscape with something personal sprinkled in, but I was wanting to continue this theme exercise.
At first I was going to do landscapes for March, that was easy and fell in line with what I was doing the month prior. Ya know, share from my portfolio. Then my family went to the Denver Aquarium and I had a few images that I really liked and wanted to share but of course I was stopping myself. Something I’ve done before with other images that fell outside of my “portfolio”. There it was, my theme for March. Post the photos that I have stopped myself from sharing. Photos that have meaning to me, like a moment frozen that I want to keep. The spontaneous inspiration of trying something new. Documenting life that is happening around me. It all revolves around my simple love of photography and moving slow enough to see and capture those moments.
These images have no relation to each other. Some may not make sense to some people. It will probably feel random all month long but with one thing that holds it all together. To see the beauty that is all around us and to not hold back when inspiration is present.

I didn’t start on March 1st as we were celebrating a very big birthday for our daughter but above are the first images of last week. A little explanation of those images is below.
- while at an outdoor market, a taxidermy sellers booth caught my eye and I couldn’t pass by the texture of the furs and the white skull in the morning light
- while putting away my terracotta pots for the winter, it felt bitter sweet to say goodbye to the garden and I captured this moment of them inside a table top greenhouse
- this tiger stared me down as I raised my camera to take his photo with the light coming through the water and mist surrounding him
- this is in my new studio space with things I love; dried peony from my garden, lamp that sat on my grandfather’s roll top desk, antique camera I love, prints of my work, and a framed camera patent
Thank you for reading today. I hope it inspires you to share something that you have stopped yourself from putting out there for others to see.
