Small Potted Herb Garden

May is all about getting back into the garden. This is going to be the 5th growing season in this garden and I am so thrilled with how this unique multi-level garden is turning out. There is always lots to do but there is also always something different I want to try each year. This year I wanted to try creating a little potted herb garden on the deck. After finding this outdoor table at Target I had this vision of small pots with herbs growing that I could see from my kitchen and easily go onto the deck to clip a few to use in recipes.

I didn’t want to spend more than the table so I started going through my pot collection and found 5 that I really liked together. I also went through all the seed packets I haven’t used up and grabbed all the herbs. I have had some of these seeds for a long while so I’m not sure if they will even germinate but at this point I’m not loosing anything by seeing if they do.

I seeded 4 of the pots with rosemary, oregano, chive, and camomile. The camomile might get too big for the pot but it also might stay smaller. Again, it’s all about just trying something fun and seeing what happens. I’m going to pick up a 5th herb to seed the last pot just haven’t got myself to the store (probably get it at Lowes) to pick out what that might be. It adds a few extra dollars to this project but I don’t think it will break the bank.

I can’t wait to see if any of these seeds germinate! I especially can’t wait to hopefully have some little herbs to clip from this summer and to see them from my kitchen. I think it’s important to create little joyful moments in your home. Something as simple as a little potted herb garden on a covered deck creates joy every time I see it from my kitchen, go out to water them and look for any little sign of green leaves peeking out of the soil. I hope you feel inspired to try a little potted herb garden, too.
