4th of July

All the beautiful flowers blooming and 4th of July fireworks on the farm.

4th of July is always a lot more fun on a Nebraska farm then it will ever be in the suburbs of Colorado where you can’t even light a black snake. The downside of living in a heavily populated area where the government is forced to protect people from themselves. It’s sad, so what we do is pack up, head to Wyoming first and get all the fireworks we can fit into the budget (and car) and then head into Nebraska where we can actually have fun.

This is also the perfect time to photograph my mom’s garden. The poppies this year were glorious! The red one’s are that classic single petal layer and the pinks one’s look like peonies because they are so full of petals. I love the one that looks like it could be a dancing flower on Fantasia.

Once the fireworks begin by my husband and daughter, I slow the shutter down on my camera and start photographing the show they put on for all of us. It’s a day we look forward to every single year.
